LignoStation™

Wood surface density scanner

rinntech lignostation

Electronically controlled, automatic drill resistance measurement for trees, hardwood and softwood.

The Rinntech Lignostation is a compact, high resolution system for preparing wood surfaces and recording the tree ring parameters and the wood density. Lignostation was developed in cooperation with the University of Freiburg, Germany. A precision mill prepares the measuring radi on the wood surface. Then, precise scans are obtained using a high-frequency probe. At the same time, optical scans of the surface can be made and analyzed in comparison with the image.

The entire system is computer controlled and relieves you of a great deal of time consuming routine tasks. You attach the sample, define the measuring radius on the PC screen, and Lignostation does the rest, from preparation up to measurement. You can then concentrate on the scientific analysis of the data. The Lignostation is used in various fields of science including dendrochronology, ecology, forestry, geography, and climate change studies.

The Word Resistograph

The U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB), in late October 2019, dismissed the petition of IML Instrument Mechanic Labor, Inc. for cancellation of the RESISTOGRAPH® trademark in the USA “with prejudice”. This means that the RESISTOGRAPH® trademark continues to be an exclusive trademark belonging to Frank Rinn, the inventor of the term (“RESISTOGRAPH”) for his inventive high resolution resistance drilling devices. Frank Rinn has been developing these high quality machines in Germany since 1986 and his RESISTOGRAPH® trademark is registered in approximately 40 countries. Only machines made by Rinntech are the original Resistograph® devices and entitled to use the Resistograph® trademark. Only data collected with a machine made by Rinntech provide Resistograph® data.
