ArboRefT™

Required shell-wall determination

rinntech arboref app

If a tree has internal defects, for example at the stem base, then ArboRefT™ can help to evaluate the structural stability by comparing the actual affected cross section with an unaffected cross section of the same trunk. The app determines the average shellwall thickness required in the affected area to provide the same breaking safety as the unaffected (reference) cross section.

Experts using one the (real) Resistograph® equipment (650 series) will be able to determine the remaining average shell-wall thickness of the defected tree for immediate evaluation of structural stability with ArboRefT™. In addition, profiles of (real) Resistograph® equipment provide expert information of the extension trends of internal stem decay together with clear information on sequential external compensatory (adaptive) radial increment growth.

Collectively, the use of ArborefT™ together with a (real) Resistograph® enables experienced experts to reliably decide about tree safety and make more accurate prognosis of decay, recommendations on pruning and communicate this clearly to the client.

Input

Tree height, height of lower edge of the crown, height and average diameter or the intact and decayed cross sections.

Output

Minimum average intact stem-wall thickness in the damaged area that is required for stability.

The Word Resistograph

The U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB), in late October 2019, dismissed the petition of IML Instrument Mechanic Labor, Inc. for cancellation of the RESISTOGRAPH® trademark in the USA “with prejudice”. This means that the RESISTOGRAPH® trademark continues to be an exclusive trademark belonging to Frank Rinn, the inventor of the term (“RESISTOGRAPH”) for his inventive high resolution resistance drilling devices. Frank Rinn has been developing these high quality machines in Germany since 1986 and his RESISTOGRAPH® trademark is registered in approximately 40 countries. Only machines made by Rinntech are the original Resistograph® devices and entitled to use the Resistograph® trademark. Only data collected with a machine made by Rinntech provide Resistograph® data.
